Historic Madoc Talc Mine

William Henry had a son, William Henry Junior who lived outside of Madoc on what is now a Hunting and Fishing Club. My grandfather was born on that farm, a later served in World War 1 where he was wounded in France. After the war, my Grandfather, Hubert, stayed with relatives in Lindsay, and he married Olive Hutchinson of Oakwood Station. My father and his brother Jim were born in Lindsay, where my father met my mother, Arla Spence. The Spence side of our family are from Islay and Skye in Scotland, they came to Canada just before the 1850's. After my parents were married they relocated to London Ontairo, where my father worked for his cousin in a law firm.

My Mother's maiden name was Spence and we can trace them to Islay Scotland, arriving in Canada before 1850. Donald Spence Jr. married a Nicholson of Skye.
